Detailed introduction

Lüliang is a prefecture-level city in Shanxi Province, located on the east bank of the middle reaches of the Yellow River in the Loess Plateau. Covering 21,140 km² with a permanent population of 3.32 million, it is classified as a fifth-tier city but has a large city scale (Type I). Its economy is dominated by energy industries (coal, electricity) and liquor production (Fenjiu), and it is actively transitioning towards cultural tourism. Lüliang has a profound historical heritage, once a key battlefield of the Red Army's Eastern Expedition, with rich red culture resources such as the Jin-Sui Border Region Revolutionary Memorial Hall in Xing County. In education, Lüliang University offers Chinese language learning and cultural exchange programs for international students. The pace of life is slow, living costs are low, and locals are warm and simple. The city is gradually improving its green spaces, with many parks and squares. International students can deeply experience Loess Plateau folk customs such as paper-cutting and dough figurine making, while enjoying the charm of a small northern city where tradition and modernity blend.
