Detailed introduction

Jiayuguan City is located in the northwestern part of Gansu Province, in the middle of the Hexi Corridor. It is named after the Jiayuguan Pass, the western starting point of the Ming Great Wall. The city was established in 1958 with the construction of the Jiuquan Iron and Steel Company, making it a typical industrial and tourism-oriented city. With a rich history, it has long been a vital passage from central China to the Western Regions, where Silk Road and Great Wall cultures converge. Economically, the Jiuquan Iron and Steel Group is the main pillar, while new energy (such as solar and wind power) and tourism have been growing rapidly. Attractions like the Jiayuguan Pass, Hanging Great Wall, and the First Pier of the Great Wall draw many visitors. In terms of education, the city hosts Gansu Vocational College of Iron and Steel Technology, but higher education resources are limited; students can access resources in nearby Lanzhou. The cost of living is low, the climate is dry with four distinct seasons and large temperature differences. The city is clean, safe, and the locals are warm and simple. For international students, it offers a unique northwestern cultural experience, low living expenses, and a peaceful study environment.
