Detailed introduction

Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture is located in west-central Yunnan Province, covering 29,459 km² with a resident population of about 3.34 million. As the ancient capital of the Nanzhao and Dali kingdoms, Dali boasts over 1,300 years of history and is one of Yunnan's earliest cultural cradles. Its economy is driven by tourism, receiving over 100 million visitors in 2023, alongside highland agriculture (e.g., tea, walnuts) and biomedical industries. Educationally, Dali University (formerly Dali College) is a comprehensive university with an International Education College enrolling students from over 30 countries, offering Chinese language and degree programs. Culturally, Bai intangible heritage includes the “Raosanling” festival, tie-dye, and “three-course tea.” Famous sites include the ancient town, Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple, and Cangshan-Erhai scenery. Living costs are moderate, with a pleasant average annual temperature of around 15°C. The community is safe and friendly, allowing international students to experience ethnic minority life. Transportation is convenient: Dali Airport connects to major Chinese cities, high-speed rail reaches Kunming in about 2 hours, and city buses, taxis, and bike-sharing are readily available.
