Detailed introduction

Suzhou, historically known as Suzhou (different from Suzhou in Jiangsu), is located in northern Anhui Province, on the southern edge of the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain. It is an important transportation hub in East China. The city has a long history, with county-level administration established as early as the Qin and Han dynasties, and flourished during the Sui and Tang dynasties due to the Grand Canal. It retains rich cultural heritage, such as the Huangcangyu National Forest Park and the Shegutai historical site. The economy is based on agriculture, food processing, textiles, and building materials, with recent development in new energy and intelligent manufacturing. In education, Suzhou University is the main undergraduate institution, along with several vocational colleges like Suzhou Vocational and Technical College, offering diverse programs for international students. The cost of living is very low, with prices far below those in first-tier cities, and the community is friendly. Although classified as a fifth-tier city, it has a high population density and complete commercial facilities, including large shopping malls, hospitals, and parks. The local dialect belongs to the Central Plains Mandarin group, but Mandarin is widely spoken, making communication easy. Overall, Suzhou is a quiet, safe, and cost-effective study destination, ideal for students who want to deeply experience local Chinese culture while minimizing financial pressure.
