Detailed introduction

Kunming is the political, economic, cultural, and transportation center of Yunnan Province, located in the central Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau at an elevation of about 1,891 meters. The city has a long history, with human activity dating back to the Warring States period; it was established as Tuodong City in the Tang Dynasty and became the seat of Yunnan Prefecture in the Ming Dynasty. Today, Kunming has developed into a key regional international city in southwestern China, with leading industries including tourism, biomedicine, electronic information, and modern logistics. In education, Kunming is home to several prestigious universities such as Yunnan University (a national 'Double First-Class' institution), Kunming University of Science and Technology, and Yunnan Normal University, attracting many international students. Culturally, Kunming is a gathering place for 26 ethnic groups, including Yi, Bai, and Dai, creating a unique blend of folk customs. Life here is relatively relaxed, with moderate living costs and excellent air quality, making it ideal for study and living. The city is also famous for its flower industry—Dounan Flower Market is Asia's largest fresh-cut flower trading hub. International students can explore natural wonders from plateau lakes (Dianchi Lake) to karst landscapes (Stone Forest) while enjoying modern urban amenities.
