Detailed introduction

Wuzhou is located in the eastern part of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, along the middle reaches of the Xi River in the Pearl River basin, bordering Guangdong Province. It serves as the eastern gateway of Guangxi. Historically, Wuzhou thrived as a major commercial port in Lingnan region due to its water transport advantages, earning the nickname 'Century-old Commercial Port'. It is also one of the birthplaces of Cantonese language and Lingnan culture. Covering approximately 12,573 square kilometers with a permanent population of 2.83 million, it is classified as a large Type II city. The climate is subtropical monsoon, with long hot and rainy summers and mild winters, making it comfortable for living and studying year-round. Economically, Wuzhou relies on light industry, food processing, jewelry manufacturing (especially synthetic gems), and tourism, and is known as the 'World Capital of Artificial Gems'. In education, institutions like Wuzhou University offer diverse academic programs for international students. Culturally, the city preserves many arcade buildings, a typical Lingnan architectural style. The cost of living is low, and the community is friendly, making it ideal for international students to immerse themselves in Chinese culture. Although a fifth-tier city, its infrastructure is well-developed, with complete medical and commercial facilities, and an increasingly upgraded transportation network.
