Detailed introduction

Heyuan is located in northeastern Guangdong Province, in the middle and upper reaches of the Dongjiang River. It is one of the main Hakka settlement areas with a history of over 2,200 years. Covering 15,644 km² with a population of 2.81 million, it is classified as a fifth-tier city but ranks as a large city (Type II) by scale. Known as the 'Ancient Hakka City,' it preserves numerous Hakka enclosed houses, ancient villages, and traditional customs. The economy relies on eco-tourism, green agriculture, and water resource industries. Wanlu Lake, the largest artificial lake in South China, maintains Class I national water quality and is called the 'Kidney of South China.' Heyuan is also the 'Hometown of Chinese Dinosaurs,' yielding massive dinosaur egg fossils. In education, it has Heyuan Polytechnic and well-developed basic schools. With a slow pace of life, low costs, friendly locals, and good public security, Heyuan is ideal for international students who want to escape the hustle while staying connected to the Pearl River Delta via high-speed rail (1 hour to Guangzhou/Shenzhen). The subtropical monsoon climate brings hot humid summers and mild winters, with an average annual temperature of around 21°C.
