Detailed introduction

Jining is a prefecture-level city in Shandong Province, located in the hinterland of southwestern East China. It borders Linyi to the east, Heze to the west, Zaozhuang and Xuzhou (Jiangsu) to the south, and Tai'an to the north. Covering 11,191 square kilometers with a permanent population of 8.19 million, Jining is a historic cultural city. It is a key birthplace of Confucian culture, where sages like Confucius, Mencius, Yan Hui, and Zengzi were born. The 'Three Confucian Sites' (Temple of Confucius, Cemetery of Confucius, and Kong Family Mansion) in Qufu are UNESCO World Heritage sites. The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal passes through the city, making Jining a vital north-south water transport hub during the Ming and Qing dynasties, earning it the title 'Canal Capital'. Economically, Jining's pillar industries include energy and chemicals, equipment manufacturing, biomedicine, and cultural tourism. In recent years, high-tech industries and modern services have grown rapidly. In education, the city hosts Qufu Normal University, Jining Medical University, and Jining University. Qufu Normal University is renowned for teacher training and Confucian studies. Living costs are lower than in Jinan or Qingdao, with high green coverage, numerous parks, and comprehensive healthcare. For international students, Jining offers a unique opportunity to delve into Confucian classics, experience the charm of canal culture, and enjoy a peaceful, livable environment.
