Detailed introduction

Zibo is located in central Shandong Province, bordering the Yellow River to the north and Mount Tai to the south. It is the core birthplace of Qi culture. In the 11th century BC, Jiang Ziya was enfeoffed in the Qi region, establishing the Qi state, and Zibo served as its capital for over 800 years, leaving rich historical sites such as the ancient city of Linzi and the Guan Zhong Memorial Hall. In modern times, Zibo developed into an industrial hub relying on abundant coal and ceramic resources, focusing on chemicals, ceramics, machinery, and metallurgy. In recent years, it has been actively transforming, with emerging industries like new materials and biomedicine rising. In terms of education, Shandong University of Technology is the main local university, with an International Education College that recruits international students worldwide, offering Chinese language preparatory courses as well as undergraduate and graduate programs. Additionally, vocational colleges like Zibo Vocational Institute also engage in international exchanges. The cost of living is much lower than in first-tier cities like Beijing and Shanghai; rent, dining, and transportation are affordable, with monthly expenses for international students ranging from 2,000 to 3,000 RMB. The city is clean with many parks and green spaces, such as the Xiaofu River Wetland Park and Qisheng Lake Park. Zibo's BBQ culture is unique—grilled meat wrapped in small pancakes with scallions has become a national sensation and a city icon. International students can experience authentic Shandong folk customs, participate in activities like the Lantern Festival and Qi Culture Festival, and appreciate the charm of Qilu, where tradition and modernity blend.
