Detailed introduction

Shijiazhuang is located in the south-central part of Hebei Province, in the heart of the North China Plain. Its rise was driven by railways, earning it the reputation of 'the thoroughfare between north and south, and the throat of Yan and Jin.' Historically, Zhengding (now part of Shijiazhuang) was the seat of Changshan Commandery, rich in cultural heritage. In modern times, with the intersection of the Beijing-Hankou and Zhengding-Taiyuan railways, Shijiazhuang transformed from a small village into a major transportation hub and became the provincial capital in 1968. Economically, it is a key industrial base in North China, dominated by pharmaceuticals, textiles, equipment manufacturing, and electronic information, along with a thriving trade and logistics sector featuring large wholesale markets. In education, the city hosts several universities including Hebei Normal University, Hebei University of Science and Technology, Hebei Medical University, and Shijiazhuang Tiedao University, offering diverse academic programs for international students. The city provides convenient living with relatively low costs, numerous parks such as Chang'an Park and Century Park, and a down-to-earth yet vibrant atmosphere. Students can easily access nearby metropolises like Beijing and Tianjin.
