Detailed introduction

Pingxiang is located in western Jiangxi Province, on the border between Jiangxi and Hunan, known as the ‘thoroughfare between Xiang and Gan.’ Its history dates back to the Three Kingdoms period, and in modern times, the Anyuan Coal Mine made it a key birthplace of early Chinese communist labor movements—the Anyuan Miners’ Strike marked a milestone in China’s revolutionary history. Economically, Pingxiang was once dominated by coal, ceramics, and steel, but is now actively transitioning to green industries such as energy conservation, new materials, and cultural tourism. In terms of education, it hosts colleges like Pingxiang University, offering language and culture courses for international students. The cost of living is low, public security is good, and locals are warm and hospitable. Though a small city, it has complete facilities including shopping malls, hospitals, and parks. International students can deeply integrate into small-city life in China, experiencing unique revolutionary culture, Nuo culture, and natural attractions like Mount Wugong and Yangqi Mountain. The climate is mild and humid with four distinct seasons, suitable for long-term residence.
