Detailed introduction

Yingkou is located on the east coast of the Liaodong Bay in southern Liaoning Province. It is the second largest port city in Northeast China (after Dalian) and one of the first coastal open cities in China. The city's history dates back to the Qing Dynasty; in 1861, Yingkou officially opened as a treaty port, becoming the first foreign trade port in Northeast China and once the largest trading center in the region. Today, Yingkou has developed into a modern industrial city with pillar industries including port logistics, equipment manufacturing, chemicals, textiles, and food processing. Yingkou Port (Bayuquan Port Area) is a key comprehensive hub in Northeast China, handling over 100 million tons of cargo annually, driving the growth of port-side industries and international trade. In terms of education, Yingkou is home to Yingkou Institute of Technology, Liaoning Vocational College of Agriculture, and several other vocational schools, offering programs in engineering, agriculture, economics, and more. The city has a moderate pace of life with housing and living costs significantly lower than in first-tier cities, making it suitable for budget-conscious students. Yingkou boasts a good ecological environment, with natural attractions such as the Liaohe River Estuary Wetland and the Bayuquan Mountain-Sea Square. Air quality is relatively good among northern Chinese cities. The public bus system is well-developed, and shared bikes and taxis are readily available, ensuring convenient daily life. For international students who wish to explore Northeast China's industrial culture and experience coastal city living, Yingkou offers excellent value for money.
