Detailed introduction

Ezhou is located in eastern Hubei Province, on the southern bank of the middle Yangtze River, bordering Huangshi to the east and Wuhan to the west. It is a key member of the Wuhan Metropolitan Area. Covering 1,505 square kilometers with a permanent population of 1.07 million, it is classified as a Type II large city. With a rich history dating back to the Three Kingdoms period, Sun Quan established his capital here and renamed it 'Wuchang,' making Ezhou the original home of the famous Wuchang fish. Economically, Ezhou has a traditional industrial base of steel, machinery, and building materials. In recent years, it has leveraged the Ezhou Huahu Airport to develop an airport economy, becoming a major logistics hub in central China. Huahu Airport is the world's fourth and Asia's first dedicated cargo hub, with multiple international cargo routes, greatly enhancing Ezhou's openness. In education, Ezhou has institutions like Ezhou Vocational University, and its proximity to Wuhan allows students to easily access the rich university resources of the provincial capital. The cost of living is low—rent, food, and transportation are about half of Wuhan's, easing financial burdens on international students. Culturally, Ezhou is a cradle of Three Kingdoms heritage, with attractions like Xishan Scenic Area, Guanyin Pavilion, and Liangzi Lake. The local dialect belongs to the Southwestern Mandarin group, but Mandarin is widely spoken. Traditional festivals include Dragon Boat races and Lantern Festival celebrations. The relaxed pace of life and friendly community atmosphere make Ezhou an ideal place for international students to immerse themselves in the lifestyle of a small-to-medium Chinese city.
