Detailed introduction

Jiuquan is located in northwestern Gansu Province, at the western end of the Hexi Corridor, covering an area of approximately 190,000 square kilometers, making it the largest prefecture-level city in Gansu. With a long history, it served as an important post station on the Silk Road as early as the Han Dynasty, and is home to numerous historical sites such as the Dunhuang Mogao Caves, Yangguan Pass, and Yumen Pass. Jiuquan is also the birthplace of China's modern space industry, hosting the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center (Dongfeng Space City), which has carried out many manned spaceflights and satellite launches, earning it the nickname 'Cradle of Spaceflight'. Economically, Jiuquan relies on aerospace technology, new energy (wind and solar power), specialty agriculture (grapes, goji berries), and tourism. In terms of education, it has institutions like Jiuquan Vocational and Technical College, but higher education resources are relatively limited. The cost of living is low, the pace of life is relaxed, and the locals are warm and friendly. Due to its inland location, the climate is dry with little rainfall, large temperature differences between day and night, cold winters, hot summers, but abundant sunshine. For international students, Jiuquan's unique aerospace culture and Silk Road heritage are the main attractions, making it suitable for those interested in history, space exploration, or desert ecology.
