Detailed introduction

Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, covering 30,339 km² with a permanent population of 3.74 million, is located in southeastern Guizhou Province. It is the most concentrated area of Miao and Dong ethnic groups in China, with ethnic minorities accounting for over 80% of the population. With a long history dating back to the Zangke Kingdom in the Spring and Autumn Period, it became a prefecture in the Ming and Qing dynasties and was established as an autonomous prefecture in 1956. The economy relies on tourism and specialty agriculture, and transportation and infrastructure have improved significantly in recent years. In education, Kaili University and other institutions offer distinctive programs in ethnology and tourism management, suitable for international students studying ethnic cultures. Living costs are low, much cheaper than in first-tier cities, and the community is friendly. The natural scenery is magnificent, with attractions like Leigong Mountain and Wuyang River, earning it the reputation of 'the last home for tired souls.' For international students, it is not only an ideal place to learn Chinese language and culture but also offers opportunities to participate in intangible cultural heritage activities such as Miao Lusheng dance and Dong Grand Song, providing a unique study-abroad experience.
