Program overview
Forestry may sound like "tree planting," but at the graduate level, it goes far beyond that. You'll delve into areas such as forest ecology, forest tree genetics and breeding, silviculture, forest protection, and forest management. Core courses include Advanced Forest Ecology, Forest Tree Molecular Biology, Forest Resource Monitoring and Remote Sensing, and Sustainable Forest Management. Chinese universities have unique advantages in this field—for example, Beijing Forestry University, Nanjing Forestry University, and Northeast Forestry University boast large experimental forest farms and long-term observation stations, allowing you to directly participate in real forest surveys, carbon sink measurement, and pest and disease control projects. This program is ideal for students who are curious about nature, enjoy fieldwork, and are willing to use scientific methods to solve environmental problems. If your undergraduate background is in forestry, ecology, biology, or related fields, you'll find it easier to get started; however, cross-disciplinary applicants with a background in ecological conservation or GIS are also highly welcome.
