Program overview
Forest Management is a graduate program under Forestry. Simply put, it teaches you how to manage a forest properly. You will learn how to survey the number and condition of trees in a forest, plan logging and reforestation, and balance timber production with environmental protection. Core courses include Forest Resource Inventory and Monitoring, Forest Management Planning, Sustainable Forest Management, Forestry Remote Sensing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Forest Economics. If you enjoy outdoor work, have an interest in ecological conservation, and are willing to use computers and data analysis to solve problems, this program is a good fit for you. Chinese universities have unique advantages in this field, such as Beijing Forestry University and Nanjing Forestry University. They collaborate closely with local forestry bureaus and nature reserves, giving you opportunities to participate in real forest management projects, such as the Natural Forest Protection Program or carbon sink forest construction.
