Program overview
The Rural Development program is a graduate-level agricultural program that focuses on the coordinated development of rural society, economy, and environment. You will study courses such as Rural Sociology, Agricultural Economics, Rural Development Planning, Natural Resource Management, Rural Policy Analysis, and Community Development. This program is ideal for students interested in rural issues, sustainable development, and social innovation. It does not require an agricultural background—students from social sciences, management, or economics can also find their niche. Chinese universities have a unique advantage in this field: many institutions, such as China Agricultural University, Zhejiang University, and Northwest A&F University, have extensive field cases and cooperation bases in rural revitalization and targeted poverty alleviation. Students have the opportunity to directly participate in village planning, industry research, and other projects, applying theory to real-world scenarios.
