Program overview
Plant protection, simply put, is about diagnosing and preventing plant diseases. You'll learn why plants get sick, which insects cause damage, and how to protect them using scientific methods like biological control and responsible pesticide use. Core courses include plant pathology, agricultural entomology, pesticide science, and plant quarantine, with plenty of hands-on lab work and field surveys. If you enjoy biology and chemistry and like working outdoors or in a lab, this major is a great fit. China is a major agricultural country, and many universities (such as China Agricultural University and Nanjing Agricultural University) have strong research in plant protection, especially in green pest control and biopesticide development.
