Program overview
This major is a 'green' direction within agriculture, centered on working with wildlife and their homes—nature reserves. You'll learn how to identify animals, understand their habits, manage a forest or wetland to make animals comfortable, and how to rescue injured or sick animals. The courses are quite interesting, such as Wildlife Ecology, Nature Reserve Planning, Conservation Biology, Animal Behavior, plus field trips where you actually go to mountains and lakes to observe animals. Chinese universities have unique advantages here because China has star species like giant pandas, golden monkeys, and Tibetan antelopes, as well as world-class nature reserves like Sanjiangyuan and Wolong. Many universities collaborate with these reserves, giving students opportunities to work on real projects. It's suitable for students who love nature, don't mind sun and wind, have patience with animals, and are willing to solve problems hands-on.
