Program overview
The Master's program in Arabic Interpreting typically lasts 2-3 years. Core courses include consecutive interpreting, simultaneous interpreting, sight translation, Arabic language and culture, and translation theory and techniques. You will learn to quickly and accurately interpret between Chinese and Arabic in real-world settings such as conferences, negotiations, and speeches, while enhancing bilingual expression and cross-cultural communication skills. Chinese universities like Beijing Foreign Studies University, Shanghai International Studies University, and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies have deep expertise in this field, with faculty often possessing hands-on experience from overseas postings or international conferences. They also maintain long-term partnerships with universities and institutions in Arab countries, offering abundant practical opportunities. This program suits students with a solid foundation in Arabic (typically TEM-4 or equivalent), a passion for translation, quick reflexes, and strong resilience. If you are a native Arabic speaker with fluent Chinese, you have a distinct advantage; non-native Arabic speakers with excellent skills in both languages are equally welcome.
