Program overview
French Translation is a direction under the Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI), focusing on practical skills in Chinese-French translation. Core courses include: Fundamentals of Translation, Literary Translation, Non-literary Translation (business, legal, scientific, etc.), Translation Technology (CAT tools), French Writing and Rhetoric, Cross-cultural Communication, and more. You will also work on real projects, such as translating contracts, press releases, product manuals, and even excerpts from literary works. This program is ideal for those who are sensitive to language, enjoy pondering word differences, and have the patience to revise translations repeatedly. If you are interested in French culture, Francophone Africa, or want to become a bridge between Chinese and French, this is the right fit. Chinese universities have unique advantages in French translation: for example, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Shanghai International Studies University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, etc. They have close cooperation with French universities and enterprises, offering numerous internship opportunities, such as translation positions at the French Embassy in China, French companies, or international organizations (e.g., UNESCO).
