Program overview
This program is the Spanish interpreting track under the Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI). It trains you to become a professional interpreter capable of 'listen-and-interpret instantly.' The curriculum is practical: consecutive interpreting, simultaneous interpreting, sight translation, note-taking for interpreting, cross-cultural communication, plus simulated international conferences, business negotiations, and other hands-on exercises. A distinctive feature of Chinese universities is their integration with Belt and Road Initiative cooperation projects in Latin America. Many schools arrange internships at Latin American embassies/consulates or multinational corporations. It's suitable for students with a solid foundation in Spanish (typically DELE B2 or above, or excellent scores in the TEM-4 for Spanish), quick reactions, a love for interacting with people, and an interest in international affairs. If you're outgoing and have strong stress tolerance, you'll have an edge in this field.
