Program overview
The Korean Interpretation program is a direction under the Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI), primarily training you to become a "bridge" between Chinese and Korean. Core courses include consecutive interpreting, simultaneous interpreting, sight translation, and note-taking techniques, along with studies in Chinese-Korean cultural comparison, political and economic terminology, and business negotiation skills. Chinese universities have unique advantages in this field: first, frequent economic and trade exchanges between China and Korea mean many schools have exchange programs with Korean universities, offering real interpretation practice opportunities; second, some universities (such as Beijing Foreign Studies University, Shanghai International Studies University, and Dalian University of Foreign Languages) have experienced Chinese-Korean interpretation faculty, even inviting Korean professors to teach. Suitable for students who are sensitive to language, quick in response, and enjoy cross-cultural communication, especially those whose native language is Chinese or Korean and have reached an intermediate to advanced level in the other language.
