Program overview
The Czech language program focuses on the fundamentals of Czech (pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary), listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translation skills, as well as knowledge of Czech and Slovak history, literature, culture, politics, and economy. Core courses include Basic Czech, Advanced Czech, Czech Audio-Visual-Oral, Czech Reading and Writing, Czech Literary History, Translation Theory and Practice, and Czech National Conditions. Only a few universities in China offer this program, such as Beijing Foreign Studies University and Beijing International Studies University, with solid faculty and frequent exchange programs with Czech universities. It is suitable for students who are passionate about language learning, enjoy exploring niche cultures, and are willing to challenge themselves with a less commonly taught language. If you are interested in Central and Eastern Europe or want to become a bridge between China and the Czech Republic, this program will give you a unique perspective and skill set.
