Program overview
The Portuguese Language Program focuses on developing listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translation skills in Portuguese (including Brazilian Portuguese), while also exploring the history, culture, and society of Portuguese-speaking countries such as Portugal, Brazil, Angola, and Mozambique. Core courses include Basic Portuguese, Advanced Portuguese, Portuguese Audio-Visual-Oral, Portuguese Reading and Writing, Portuguese-Chinese Translation, Portuguese Literature, Brazilian Literature, and Overview of Portuguese-Speaking Countries. Chinese universities often have exchange programs with universities in Macau and Brazil, and some schools offer corporate internship opportunities. This program is ideal for students who are sensitive to language, enjoy cross-cultural communication, and are willing to take on the challenge of a less commonly taught language. If you are interested in Latin America or Africa, this major allows you to directly engage with the real aspects of these regions.
