Program overview
Digital Media Art is basically 'using computers to create art.' You'll learn how to use software for animation, game development, app interfaces, short video effects, and even VR/AR experiences. Core courses include: digital image processing, 3D modeling and animation, interaction design, user interface design, film and television post-production compositing, and game design fundamentals. Many Chinese universities place a strong emphasis on practice in this major—for example, Communication University of China, Beijing Film Academy, and Tsinghua University's Academy of Arts & Design all have excellent faculty and facilities, with high-performance computers, motion capture equipment, and VR headsets readily available in labs. It's perfect for students who enjoy drawing and design and aren't put off by computer technology—you don't need to be a programming whiz, but you should be willing to learn some software skills. If you love scrolling through Douyin, playing games, watching anime, and wondering 'how was this made?', this major will be right up your alley.
