Program overview
Art and Technology, simply put, teaches you to use technical tools like programming, sensors, VR/AR for artistic creation. It's not purely painting, nor purely coding, but blending the two. For example, creating an immersive light and shadow exhibition, designing a music installation that responds to your movements, or developing an artistic game. Core courses include: Digital Media Art, Interaction Design, Creative Programming (Processing/Unity), Virtual Reality Technology, Sound Design, Motion Graphics, etc. Many Chinese universities invest heavily in this field, such as China Academy of Art, Central Academy of Fine Arts, and Tsinghua University Academy of Arts & Design, all with dedicated labs, state-of-the-art equipment, and many faculty returning from overseas. Who is it suitable for? If you like both drawing/design and are curious about computer technology, and don't want to be a traditional artist or just a programmer, this major will suit you well. It requires some hands-on ability, but the technical threshold is not high; the school will teach from scratch.
