Program overview
Design may sound high-end, but its core is simply "solving problems with creativity." You'll learn how to turn ideas into tangible things—whether it's a mobile app interface, a poster in a shopping mall, or the shape of a smart product. The curriculum is rich: starting with design history and theory, then visual communication (like typography and color), interaction design (how users interact with products), product design (from sketches to models), environmental design (indoor and outdoor spaces), and more. Many Chinese universities emphasize hands-on practice, such as Tsinghua University's Academy of Arts & Design and Tongji University's College of Design and Innovation, where you'll work on real projects and even collaborate with tech companies. It's suitable for students who have an eye for beauty and enjoy pondering "why this thing works/looks good"—you don't necessarily need to be able to draw, but you should be curious.
