Program overview
The Drama Education program, simply put, teaches you how to use theater to teach and nurture people. Unlike pure performance majors that focus solely on the spotlight, it emphasizes the value of theater as an educational tool. You'll learn drama theory, educational psychology, scriptwriting, directing techniques, as well as various drama games and improvisation methods. Core courses include Introduction to Drama Education, Children's Drama Creation and Teaching, Educational Drama Practice, and Fundamentals of Stage Art. In China, many universities incorporate local opera elements, such as Peking Opera and Kunqu Opera experience classes, allowing you to appreciate the charm of traditional arts. This program is especially suitable for students who enjoy interacting with people, are creative, patient, and passionate about education. If you are outgoing, like organizing activities, or have led a drama group in a club, you will have a great time learning.
