Program overview
The Choreography program, simply put, teaches you how to 'choreograph' and 'direct' dance. You not only need to be able to dance, but also understand how to turn ideas into movements and movements into works. Core courses include choreography techniques, dance structure, music editing, stage design, dance history, and some knowledge of theater and multimedia. Chinese universities have a unique advantage in this field: abundant resources in ethnic folk dances, such as Tibetan, Mongolian, and Dai styles. Many schools take students on field trips to incorporate traditional elements into modern creations. Who is this program suitable for? First, you need a dance foundation (at least a few years of training). Second, you should be thoughtful, creative, and enjoy teamwork—because choreographers often work with dancers, lighting, and music. If you are passionate about expressing emotions through the body and have ideas about social issues, this program will be a great fit.
