Program overview
Immunology might sound a bit high-end, but it's actually about how our bodies fight off "bad guys" like viruses and bacteria. Simply put, it's about understanding how the immune system works, why it sometimes goes wrong (like allergies, autoimmune diseases), and how to use this knowledge to treat diseases. Core courses include molecular immunology, cellular immunology, immunopathology, vaccinology, tumor immunology, etc. You'll learn how the "main characters" like T cells, B cells, antibodies, and cytokines work together. Chinese universities have many highlights in immunology. For example, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University all have strong immunology teams, especially in tumor immunology and infection immunology. Laboratory equipment is advanced, and many advisors have overseas backgrounds, making them friendly to international students. If you enjoy hands-on experiments, are curious about life sciences, and don't mind reading literature, this major will suit you well.
