Program overview
Clinical Medicine is the most central field in medicine—simply put, it teaches you how to become a doctor. You'll learn how the human body works, how diseases occur, and how to diagnose and treat them. Core courses include Human Anatomy (understanding body structure), Physiology (understanding organ functions), Pathology (studying disease mechanisms), Pharmacology (mastering drug effects), as well as clinical courses like Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Pediatrics. This program suits students who are patient, responsible, enjoy interacting with people, and can handle some pressure. Chinese universities have unique strengths in clinical medical education—many have large affiliated hospitals, so from your fourth year you can follow doctors on rounds, write medical records, and participate in surgeries, offering plenty of hands-on experience. Moreover, China has a distinctive advantage in integrating traditional medicine (Chinese medicine) with modern medicine, and some schools offer integrated Chinese-Western medicine courses, giving you an additional perspective.
