Program overview
Pharmacology is a bridge between medicine and pharmacy. Simply put, it studies "how drugs work in the body" and "how the body processes drugs." You will learn how drugs bind to targets, how they are absorbed, distributed, metabolized, and excreted, whether different drugs interact with each other, and how to design experiments to verify drug safety and efficacy. Core courses include molecular pharmacology, clinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, toxicology, and immunopharmacology. If you enjoy biochemistry and physiology, and are curious about "why this drug can cure diseases," this major is a great fit. Chinese universities have unique advantages in Chinese medicine pharmacology and natural drug research. Many labs are directly involved in the entire process from target discovery to preclinical evaluation of innovative drugs, giving you exposure to real R&D projects.
