Program overview
The Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine program, simply put, allows you to master both medical systems and learn to flexibly choose or combine them based on the patient's condition. Graduate-level study goes deeper—you'll study basic theories of TCM, Chinese materia medica, and herbal formulas, while also systematically learning Western diagnostics, internal medicine, surgery, pathology, and more. Core courses include Integrated Chinese and Western Internal Medicine, Integrated Chinese and Western Surgery, and Integrated Clinical Thinking. This program is ideal for those interested in both TCM and Western medicine, who don't want to focus on just one side but want to explore how to combine their strengths. Many Chinese universities of TCM, such as Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, have strong faculty and clinical resources in this field. Their affiliated hospitals have dedicated integrated medicine departments where you can directly see how doctors use Chinese herbs alongside Western drugs to treat chronic diseases, postoperative recovery, etc.
