Program overview
Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine (Basic) is a postgraduate-level program that focuses on using modern scientific methods (such as molecular biology and immunology) to explain TCM theories (like meridians, qi and blood, yin and yang) and develop combined treatment approaches. Core courses include Basic TCM Theory, Western Pathology, Research Methods in Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine, Chinese Materia Medica Pharmacology, and Systems Biology. It's ideal for students interested in both TCM and Western medicine, who enjoy lab work and want to scientifically validate TCM's effectiveness. Chinese universities have unique advantages in this field—for example, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine have national-level labs and clinical bases, offering access to real TCM diagnostic data and modern medical technologies.
