Program overview
TCM Rehabilitation is an interdisciplinary field that combines traditional Chinese medicine therapies (such as acupuncture, tuina, herbal medicine, and qigong) with modern rehabilitation medicine (physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy). In simple terms, it teaches you how to use TCM methods to help patients recover physical function, relieve pain, and improve quality of life. Core courses include Basic Theory of TCM, Meridian and Acupoint Science, Tuina Manipulation, Rehabilitation Assessment, Exercise Therapy, and Occupational Therapy. You will also learn how to design rehabilitation plans for common conditions like post-stroke sequelae, post-fracture surgery, and neck-shoulder-lower back pain. This program is ideal for students who are interested in TCM, enjoy hands-on practice, and have patience and empathy. Chinese universities have unique advantages in TCM rehabilitation—for example, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine have affiliated hospitals and clinical training bases where students can work with real cases. International students here not only learn authentic TCM theory but also experience modern rehabilitation technologies, such as smart rehabilitation equipment.
