Program overview
Internal Medicine of Traditional Chinese Medicine is a core clinical branch of TCM, focusing on diagnosing and treating internal diseases (such as colds, coughs, stomach pain, insomnia, hypertension, diabetes, etc.) using TCM theories (e.g., yin-yang and five elements, zang-fu organs and meridians, qi, blood, and body fluids). Courses include Basic Theories of TCM, TCM Diagnostics, Chinese Materia Medica, TCM Formulas, Internal Medicine of TCM, Treatise on Cold Damage, and Synopsis of Golden Chamber. You will learn how to perform the four diagnostic methods (observation, auscultation and olfaction, inquiry, and palpation), conduct syndrome differentiation and treatment, and prescribe herbal formulas. This program suits students interested in traditional culture, who enjoy memorizing classics, and have patience for detail. Many Chinese universities, such as Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, offer strong faculty and clinical bases, allowing students to directly follow renowned senior TCM practitioners and gain hands-on experience.
