The specialty of TCM Medical History and Literature is essentially about studying the history and classic texts of Traditional Chinese Medicine. You will learn the development of TCM from ancient to modern times—for example, how classics like the *Huangdi Neijing* and *Shanghan Lun* came to be, what they contain, and the academic thoughts of famous physicians throughout history. Core courses include TCM Philology, TCM History, Ancient Text Collation and Digitization, and Schools of TCM Thought. This program is ideal for students with a strong interest in history, culture, and ancient texts, especially those who enjoy quiet study and research. Many Chinese universities of TCM, such as Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, have strong faculty and ancient text resources; some even have dedicated digitization labs where you can access rare editions and manuscripts.
