Program overview
Electrical Theory and New Technology is a graduate program in the field of electrical engineering. Simply put, it studies the underlying principles of how electricity is generated, transmitted, transformed, and efficiently utilized. You might think this sounds a bit abstract, but it's actually closely related to our daily lives—for example, wireless phone charging, motor control in electric vehicles, and the design of ultra-high voltage transmission lines all rely on knowledge from this program. Core courses include Numerical Calculation of Electromagnetic Fields, Modern Circuit Theory, Power System Analysis, Power Electronics Technology, and New Energy Generation and Grid Integration. These courses involve quite a bit of math and physics, but don't worry—instructors will guide you through simulation software and experiments to help you understand, such as using ANSYS to simulate electromagnetic fields or Matlab to build power system models. This program is suitable for students who are passionate about physics and math, enjoy hands-on experiments, and want to deeply understand the mechanisms behind electricity. Chinese universities have strong capabilities in this field—for example, in labs at Tsinghua, Zhejiang University, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, you can access world-leading ultra-high voltage test platforms and new energy microgrid systems. Many research projects directly serve China's smart grid and "dual carbon" goals.
