Program overview
Energy Internet Engineering is an interdisciplinary field that essentially equips traditional power systems with a "brain" and "nerves." You'll learn how power systems operate, as well as how IoT, big data, and artificial intelligence are applied to energy management. Core courses include circuit principles, power electronics, smart grid technology, energy internet communications, renewable energy generation, energy storage technology, and energy big data analytics. If you're interested in new energy (like solar and wind) and enjoy programming and data analysis, this major is a great fit. Many Chinese universities have strong practical resources in this area—for example, Tsinghua, HUST, and SJTU have dedicated energy internet labs where students can work on real microgrid and virtual power plant projects.
