Program overview
Integrated Circuit Engineering, simply put, is about learning how to design and manufacture chips. Chips are the brains of phones, computers, cars, and smart devices. This program teaches you how to turn a circuit diagram into a working chip from scratch. Core courses include digital/analog integrated circuit design, semiconductor physics and devices, chip fabrication processes, EDA tool usage, packaging and testing. You'll learn how to draw circuit diagrams using software, etch micron-level structures on wafers, and test chip functionality. It's ideal for those who enjoy hands-on work, have an interest in physics and circuits, and don't mind working with machines and code. Chinese universities offer strong practical resources in this field, such as dedicated tape-out opportunities (where students design chips that are actually manufactured) and collaborative projects with companies like Huawei and SMIC, giving you exposure to real industry needs.
