Program overview
Groundwater Science and Engineering, simply put, is the study of groundwater's "past and present." You'll learn how groundwater flows, how it gets polluted, how to extract it sustainably, and how to protect it. Core courses include hydrogeology, groundwater dynamics, hydrogeochemistry, groundwater pollution and remediation, engineering geology, and more. This major is ideal for students who love nature, are interested in earth sciences, and have strong hands-on skills. Chinese universities have significant practical advantages in this field, such as China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and Jilin University, which boast large field practice bases and advanced laboratories, allowing you to operate groundwater monitoring equipment firsthand and even participate in real water resource survey projects.
