Program overview
Resource Exploration Engineering, simply put, teaches you how to find treasures beneath the earth—oil, coal, metal ores, and even groundwater. The courses are quite interesting: basic ones like General Geology, Mineralogy, Petrology, and Structural Geology help you first understand the Earth's "skeleton"; then you learn technical courses such as Geophysical Exploration, Geochemical Exploration, and Remote Sensing Geology, which equip you with "X-ray vision" and "detectors." Chinese universities have unique strengths in this field—for example, China University of Geosciences and China University of Petroleum have vast field practice bases where you can personally touch real mineral veins and rock formations. It's perfect for students who love the outdoors, don't mind hiking through mountains and rivers, and are curious about Earth science.
