Program overview
Textile Chemistry and Dyeing & Finishing Engineering is essentially the study of how to color and treat fabrics (e.g., waterproofing, antibacterial, wrinkle-resistant). Ever wondered how the colors on your clothes, towels, or bed sheets are applied? Or why some fabrics dry quickly? That's all thanks to dyeing and finishing technology. Core courses include dye chemistry, auxiliary chemistry, dyeing process technology, finishing process technology, and textile testing. There are plenty of lab sessions where you'll mix dyes, operate dyeing machines, and test colorfastness. This major is perfect for students who love chemistry, enjoy hands-on work, and want to see immediate, practical results. Chinese universities have a natural advantage in this field—China is the world's largest textile producer and exporter. Institutions like Donghua University, Jiangnan University, and Zhejiang Sci-Tech University boast strong dyeing and finishing labs and industry-university partnerships, giving you access to cutting-edge eco-friendly dyeing technologies and smart finishing processes.
