Program overview
Textile Engineering might sound a bit traditional, but it's actually far more than just making clothes. This major teaches you how to turn fibers (cotton, wool, synthetic fibers, even carbon fiber) into yarn, fabric, and then into various products. Core courses include Textile Materials Science (understanding fiber properties), Spinning, Weaving, Dyeing and Finishing (coloring and finishing fabrics), and Textile Design. If you enjoy hands-on experiments, are interested in materials science, or want to be part of creating 'black tech' fabrics (like waterproof-breathable or smart temperature control), this major is a great fit. China is the world's largest textile producer, and universities like Donghua University and Tianjin Polytechnic University have strong textile programs with advanced lab equipment and close industry partnerships, giving you real-world exposure.
