Program overview
Information Management and Information Systems (IMIS) is an interdisciplinary major centered on "using technology to help businesses make better decisions." You will learn three main areas: first, computer technology—programming (Python, Java), databases, and networking basics; second, management knowledge—management principles, accounting, and marketing; third, data analysis and information systems—data mining, ERP systems, and information system analysis and design. The courses are very practical—for example, 《Database Principles》 lets you design a small database yourself, and 《Management Information Systems》 guides you through optimizing real business processes. This major is especially suitable for two types of people: those who like technology but don't want to just write code and want to understand business logic, and those who are good at communication, have clear logic, and want to be a bridge between technology and management. Chinese universities have a clear advantage in this field: many schools have close cooperation with enterprises. For example, domestic ERP vendors like Yonyou and Kingdee offer internship opportunities, and you can also get hands-on experience with China's unique e-commerce and mobile payment scenarios, which generate massive amounts of data—perfect for practice.
