Program overview
National security studies may sound grand, but it is actually a very practical interdisciplinary field. Simply put, it involves learning how to use technical means and management methods to protect the country from various security threats—from cyber attacks and data breaches to terrorism and transnational crime. Core courses include cybersecurity, intelligence analysis, crisis management, data security and privacy protection, and international security law. Chinese universities have unique advantages in this field: for example, the cybersecurity laboratories at Tsinghua University and Peking University directly participate in national-level protection projects; while China People's Police University and National Defense University focus more on practical operations and policy. This field is suitable for students who are interested in technology, care about social issues, have strong logical thinking, and enjoy solving complex challenges. If you have a background in computer science, law, international relations, or public administration, it will be easier to get started.
