Program overview
Aircraft airworthiness technology, simply put, is the study of "registering" and "checking up" on aircraft. You learn how to ensure that an aircraft meets safety regulations from design, manufacturing, to operation, making sure it won't have problems in the sky. Core courses include aerodynamics, aircraft structural mechanics, airworthiness regulations (such as China's CCAR, US FAR, European EASA), reliability engineering, system safety analysis, fault diagnosis, and more. This major is especially suitable for students who love airplanes, are detail-oriented, and have clear logic—because you'll be dealing with a lot of technical documents and calculations, but the sense of achievement is huge: every aircraft you help certify is a commitment to life. Chinese universities have unique strengths in this field. For example, the Civil Aviation University of China, Beihang University, and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics all have dedicated airworthiness colleges or programs, and they maintain close cooperation with the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), as well as companies like Boeing, Airbus, and COMAC, giving students opportunities to work on real type certification projects.
