Program overview
Aircraft Manufacturing Engineering is, simply put, about learning how to build big things like airplanes, rockets, and satellites. You might think this major is far removed from everyday life, but it's actually quite down-to-earth—from design drawings to part processing, and then to final assembly and testing, every step relies on manufacturing engineers. Core courses include mechanical design, mechanics of materials, aerospace manufacturing technology, composite material forming, digital manufacturing, and more. You'll also learn how to use CAD/CAM software for drafting, operate CNC machines, and inspect part precision. Chinese universities have unique strengths in this field. For example, Beihang University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Northwestern Polytechnical University all offer strong hands-on teaching, even allowing students to participate in the manufacturing of components for real aircraft models. If you're good with your hands, enjoy mechanics and electronics, and are curious about airplanes and rockets, this major will suit you well. But a heads-up: you'll need a solid foundation in math and physics, as many courses involve calculations and analysis.
